Mental Health Platform
DATAMIND is the mental health data science hub of the Mental Health Platform, a Medical Research Council (MRC) initiative on behalf of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The platform consists of five challenge-led research hubs focused on collaboration, data sharing, and engagement with the NHS, academia, industry, and the public to accelerate research into severe mental illnesses and develop more effective treatments. DATAMIND provides the data infrastructure needed to support these hubs. The five other hubs of the Mental Health Platform will be able to access existing data from DATAMIND and contribute their own as it is generated. The platform will bring together, curate, and make important new information available to the wider research community.
Mental Health Mission
DATAMIND is partnered with the Mental Health Mission, which aims to address the urgent need for new treatment options for people with mental health conditions and to position the UK as a leader in mental health research innovation. DATAMIND will support the mission by providing robust data and digital infrastructure. This includes utilising routinely collected data, introducing new types of data for measurement, recruitment, outcomes, and enhancing trial platforms with informatics.
PHI-UK’s Population Mental Health
DATAMIND is partnered with PHI-UK’s Population Mental Health Consortium (PMHC), a UKRI-funded initiative dedicated to tackling health inequalities and improving population mental health through prevention. Their work includes building coalitions to drive innovation in research methods, leveraging data to evaluate public health policies, addressing intersectional inequalities, and developing training programmes for stakeholders. PMHC focuses on suicide and self-harm prevention, reducing mental health inequalities among individuals with multiple long-term conditions, and providing tailored interventions to support children and young people.
National Centre for Suicide Prevention and Self-Harm
DATAMIND is partnered with the National Centre for Suicide Prevention and Self-Harm, which aims to advance research, inform policy, and develop evidence-based interventions to reduce suicide and self-harm in Wales. The Centre brings together researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and people with lived experience to drive meaningful change and improve support for those at risk.
The DATAMIND Observatory
The DATAMIND Observatory, based at the University of Manchester, is a new industry-facing analytics service designed to drive trial investment in the UK and accelerate the development and testing of new therapeutics. Funded by the Office for Life Sciences and delivered by the Medical Research Council, it lets industry partners commission analytics as a service, as an alternative to accessing underlying datasets directly.
