ECR’s Virtual Coffee Morning: Top tips for securing funding for research

Welcome to our ECR Virtual Coffee Morning! This online gathering, specifically designed for Early Career Researchers (ECRs), will be held on Friday the 7th of June, at 10:00 AM. Our aim is to create a vibrant, collaborative space where ECRs can connect personally, share best practices, and explore pressing topics in the research field.

About this Event:

Join us for an enriching one-hour forum, designed as a ‘coffee’ morning meeting to blend casual interaction with meaningful discussion. For the second session in the series, we have invited an ECR to talk about their experience of the process of securing funding and any top tips they can share.

What to Expect:

  • You can expect an engaging session of submitted questions and answers, introductions, and possibly an open Q&A if time permits.
  • Interactive Format: We encourage all attendees to submit questions before the event to guide our conversation. Depending on the number of participants, we may start with a roundtable introduction, allowing you to share your research background and interests.

Guest Speaker & Chair: Dr Emily Ball

Emily is a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. She is an early career researcher navigating the research funding landscape. Emily is interested in using routinely collected health data to understand risk factors for depression. In 2023, Emily was awarded an MQ Mental Health Post-Doctoral Scholarship to explore the relationship between physical and mental health in older adults.
