Dr Marcos del Pozo Baños arrived to the field of mental health data science in 2015 through the data science door. He has a PhD in Intelligent Systems and Numerical Application in Engineering by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). At present, he is Senior Lecturer at Swansea University Medical School, where he also sits on the Steering Board for the Population Data Science Research Institute and the Research Ethics Subcommittee. His research interests include self-harm and suicide prevention, children and young people’s mental health, the responsible use of machine learning for mental health research, and the development of tools to support the use of routinely collected data in research.
