Dr Max Richard Ashton is a Research Associate based within the DECIPHer Centre at Cardiff University’s School of Social Sciences. Max’s research sits at the intersection of education and public health and includes topics such as school-based Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in Wales, e-cigarette/vape use amongst children and young people, the experiences of gender diverse youth, and smartphone use policies in schools. Max is a mixed-methods researcher focused upon utilising diverse research methods to engage with complexity in social and educational phenomena. His primary research interests include gender, sexuality, and the translation of policy into practice within institutions.
